Afternoon tea Is one of them traditional treats, full of delicious sandwiches and big jammy sponge cakes, the ultimate nightmare for us coeliacs. As it was mothers day and my mums favourite treat is afternoon tea, I was worried I would ruin the day not being able to eat anything. I contacted a café , Happy Bunnies-Longton, Preston, who were extremely catering for me, offering a full gluten free afternoon tea just for me (yes yes yes)
It arrived beautifully presented with loads of different foods all gluten free, it included; GF bagel with ham and cheese, salt and vinegar crisps, GF egg mayonnaise sandwiches, GF Nacho mini bites, Loaded potato skins with bacon & cheese and Cream of asparagus & celery soup. Then for the sweet side I had GF cupcake, Rhubarb and custard meringue, GF white chocolate cheesecake, GF millionaires shortbread and GF fruit scone with cream, jam and strawberries and a Rose and raspberry juice! It was absolute heaven, a gluten free paradise!
Happy Bunnies were very aware of cross contamination, presenting my afternoon tea on a separate tray, and they gave me a separate box to take away left overs! Their attention to detail was excellent and much appreciated. They made me feel so comfortable and at ease, it was no problem to cater for me and it was brilliant to be able to enjoy something like afternoon tea with the rest of the family without the worry about contamination or eating gluten. The range of gluten free foods they offered on the afternoon tea was amazing, there was so much variety and it was a perfect afternoon out.
So if you every fancy afternoon tea that's not just sandwiches especially if gluten free bread is not your favourite like mine, this is the place to visit. It was delicious, beautifully presented in a lovely little café that is most importantly,
safe for us to eat.
I love hearing from you all so please feel free to leave a comment or message me to ask any questions regarding this visit, Happy travels!
